Bally's Atlantic City Switches to Adult-Only Following Customer Complaints Over Misbehaving Children

The well-known Bally's Atlantic City resort no longer permits guests under 21 years old to access certain areas of its establishment.

Recently, Bally's shared this news through its social media platforms, stating that now only those aged 21 and above are allowed in the indoor pool and fitness center. Resort staff claim that this change comes after numerous complaints from customers about unruly children and teenagers disgracing their stay.

In addition, Bally's is going through a large-scale renovation costing more than $100 million. This upgrading initiative will result in a revamped hotel lobby, a unique rotating 360-degree carousel bar, a high-limit gaming room, an indoor/outdoor beer garden, and over 400 modern slot machines.

Moreover, Bally's is transforming all its 750 traditional guest rooms along with adding 112 corner suites and 16 luxury-styled accommodations. The Bally's establishment is the third-oldest casino in Atlantic City, preceded by Resorts and Caesars. It first opened its doors as Bally's Park Place on December 29, 1979.

Giving in to Adult Demands

Bally's representatives stated that various guests find its pool and fitness center undesirable due to noisy kids.

"After receiving a considerable number of complaints, Bally's decided to restrict access to the pool only to individuals 21 years or older, and it has garnered positive feedback," said Michael Monty, Bally's Atlantic City's general manager.

Bally's social media posts took a more promotional approach.

"Bally's Pool & Fitness will now be accessible to ADULTS ONLY (21+)!," an Instagram post expressed. "Relax, unwind and have a good time!"

Most responses from online users expressing their reaction to the change in Bally's pool and fitness center admitted age were welcomed.

"Take the kids to the Showboat," wrote one Instagram user.

The Showboat opened its $100 million Island Waterpark on June 30, which spans across 120,000 square feet with 11 water slides, a wave and surf simulator, a waterfall, a lazy river, and an adventure pool, to mention a few.

The Island Waterpark is not inexpensive, with day passes starting at $89. Price-wise for a family of four, this amounts to $404.96 including tax and a processing fee. Currently, the Island Waterpark is offering a buy three, get one deal with the online code, "BUY3GET1."

However, Bally's and the Showboat are not in close proximity to each other, as the Boardwalk properties are almost a mile apart.

Prohibiting Underage Beach-Goers

It is forbidden for people under the age of 21 to gamble in Atlantic City. They are also not allowed to access the nine casino floors.

Although each of the nine resorts enables individuals aged 18 and up to reserve hotel rooms and remain within the resorts, these guests are not authorized to hang around the casino zones.

Atlantic City casinos, on the other hand, welcome guests aged 18 and over to partake in their numerous dining options, retail shops, arcades, and other amusements. Casinos typically create designated hallways that permit underage visitors to walk through the gaming area without any hassle.

Minors are not allowed to book casino rooms or be on the premises unless accompanied by an adult.

Slowing Down the Party Train

In response to the growing complaint of unruly kids/teens damaging the guest experience, some casinos have taken the initiative to prohibit younger guests from certain areas. As such, guests below the age of 21 are now banned from Bally's Pool & Fitness and the Showboat's Island Waterpark.

Furthermore, this move attempts to create a more suitable and age-appropriate destination for the younger market, with Atlantic City fulfilling this need. Consequently, the City gains popularity by providing two separate entertainment spots catering to the diverse preferences of its visitors.
