Baccarat dealer at Mohegan Sun allegedly defrauded $124,000
A baccarat dealer at Mohegan Sun Casino Resort in Connecticut has been accused of benefiting a player in the game who allegedly colluded with him, the Daily Journal reports. Investigators accuse the couple of defrauding the casino out of $124,000.
Drug dealer Yu Wenfu, 64, was charged with two counts of first-degree larceny, four counts of second-degree larceny and one count of third-degree larceny in connection with the scheme. He was arraigned Monday in New London District A Court on the felony charge.
His associate Jiang Haoen was banned from entering the casino but was not charged with any crime. It's unclear whether he will do so.

On the morning of April 21, 2023, the sharp-eyed pit boss discovered that Fu was handling cards suspiciously. He notified the casino's security department, who began monitoring Fu more closely through surveillance cameras.
They noticed that Fu had already piled the pile before Jiang appeared at the table. Typically, a baccarat dealer will "clean" the cards, arrange them into a square shape, and put them into an automatic shuffling machine before dealing the cards.
Cleaning is a random technique in which the dealer spreads the cards face down and then moves the cards around the table with his hands.
Instead of cleaning, the surveillance team noticed Fu turning some cards over so he could see them and arrange them in a specific order. Then he secretly hid them aside and stacked them neatly together.

The object of Baccarat is to bet on the hand with the highest value, which is 9. Tens and face cards count as zero, Aces count as one, and all other cards count as their face value.
Investigators determined that Fu Jiang signaled when nine cards were dealt by placing them after a specific sequence of worthless face cards.
When investigators retrieved surveillance video, they discovered that Jiang had won $3,600 at Fu's poker table a day earlier, April 20.
Looking further back, they found multiple gains between $8,850 and $29,835. Between March 29 and April 20, 2023, the total was $124,260.
Jiang was interviewed by police in his Mohegan Sun hotel room on April 21, and despite having Fu's number on his cell phone, he denied the conspiracy. He was evicted from the premises and banned from the premises for life.
Fu has been suspended during the investigation. He was arrested and charged on Nov. 19. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
