Starting May 1st, police officers in task forces in Saxony, Germany are required to wear mandatory identification. This consists of the state abbreviation 'SN' and a five-digit anonymized number sequence which need to be clearly visible on their outer clothing, as per the announcement made by the Interior Ministry on Tuesday. By the end of 2024, all other riot police units will be equipped with this new identification, followed by the police directorates in the following year. Around 5.5 million euros will be utilized from the budget to implement this identification requirement.
