Trial for Fraud in Frankfurt Notes - Attorney defrauds elderly blind woman of 630,000 euros.

Arriving at Frankfurt District Court, a woman in a stylish red anorak and matching lipstick enters. She deftly avoids eye contact with the pensioner's family in the audience.

Daniel Sperlich, the public prosecutor, is certain that the legal guardian of Marianne A. (87), the defendant, took advantage of the elderly woman's trust and amassed a substantial fortune through deception. This is classified as embezzlement and serious fraud.

The situation becomes even more dismal, as Marianne is a widow with visual impairment and hearing difficulties. This vulnerable senior citizen had a safe deposit box and a house in Frankfurt that the scam lawyer coveted.

Pensioner forced to use stolen money for expenses

The indictment states that the mother of three kids used a large portion of the stolen funds to support their income as she and her husband were not employed. Initially, she was given a transfer form by Miglena G. who reportedly told the senior citizen, "You can sign it."

The lawyer allegedly ordered a BMW X7 worth approximately 80,000 euros for the visually impaired woman and continued to raid her accounts. The total amount allegedly stolen by 2023 was reduced from 655,000 euros to 635,000 euros due to some questionable withdrawals.

Sadly, the beautiful house has already been sold. The senior citizen is now destitute and cannot even afford the rent for her assisted living facility, according to her relatives.

Lawyer admits to stealing from elderly woman

The court, public prosecutor, and defense lawyers are in talks for a potential sentence. Judge Sascha Rüppel suggests a prison term ranging from two years and eight months to three years and four months if the defendant fully confesses.

In response, defense lawyer Uwe Lipphardt acknowledges the charges. "My client is remorseful and has confessed," he says.

Surprisingly, the lawyer is initially ruled not guilty because of her confession. The trial proceeds.
