Attempted Murder at Main Street Station Inflicted 30-40 Stab Wounds: Vegas Police Disclose
A guy heading to the parking lot of Las Vegas's Main Street Station on a Sunday got into a fierce altercation with another man. The argument escalated, causing the assailant to slash the victim multiple times on his arms and stomach.
Revealed by police on Wednesday, the attacker reportedly inflicted around 30 to 40 stab wounds on his victim.
As soon as the crime occurred, security guards intervened and separated the two. The assailant, identified as Dylan Ihmels, aged 25, from Henderson, Nevada, was promptly cuffed and apprehended by law enforcement officials with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). Ihmels currently charged with an attempt of murder with a deadly weapon and battery with a deadly weapon resulting in considerable injury.
He is presently in Clark County Detention Center without bail, with an impending court date set for August 31st.
The perpetrator used a small knife during the attack, as reported by a Las Vegas television station, KVVU.
Spat over Money
Ihmels disclosed to police it was a disagreement over cash that sparked their conflict, based on KSNV news. Yet the assailant remained secretive about further details.
At the time of the stabbings, the victim received six serious abdomen wounds and other cuts on his arms, per the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Medics from the scene applied tourniquets to both arms and a chest seal on the victim to curb his bleeding, as per KVVU news. Chest seals are bandages specifically used for wounds on the chest, neck, or stomach.
Injuries for Both Suspect and Victim
The victim was admitted to University Medical Center (UMC) for his injuries. There was no update on his well-being during that week.
Ihmels also received medical attention at UMC for lacerations on his cheek, left elbow, and right knee, according to KSNV.
A pal of the victim's, also present at the incident, was unharmed.
It was stated that the incident started at the Strat Hotel, Casino & Tower where the conflict initiated, with an unnamed friend of the victim providing this account to police.
The scuffle and slashings were captured on surveillance footage from the nearby California Hotel & Casino (The Cal).
