Atlantic City's Ocean Casino Introduces Helicopter Service to New York City
Ocean Casino Resort unveiled their latest feature on Tuesday: helicopter trips from New York City's Manhattan to their Atlantic City location.
Last year, Ocean installed a helicopter pad on their parking garage. For months, VIPs have been using this area for private flights. Now, the resort is introducing a commercial booking service, making helicopter travel available to a larger group of guests.
According to Bill Callahan, general manager at Ocean Casino, guests have appreciated private chartered rides since the creation of the helipad. Adding a regular luxurious experience enhances the rewards of their coastal resort.
Ocean has joined forces with Blade Air Mobility, a New York City-based aviation company, to provide helicopter services to the Boardwalk casino. Blade, which was founded in 2016, will begin offering direct helicopter flights from its terminal on West 30th Street in Manhattan to Ocean on May 25.
Swift and Costly
The distance between Manhattan and Atlantic City is approximately 130 miles, but traffic can turn a drive into a three-hour commute. Blade claims it can save passengers time by flying them to the casino town in just 40 minutes.
Of course, this flight comes at a cost. On Blade's official site, one-way trips from Chelsea near Hudson Yards to Ocean Casino Resort are priced starting at $695 per person. Each traveler is allowed a single carry-on bag and one checked bag weighing no more than 25 pounds.
The cost for a round trip flight for two is around $2,800. Additionally, using Blade's helicopter service entitles Ocean room guests to complimentary suite upgrades. Ocean's concierge also greets Blade passengers when they land on the parking garage.
Blade's flights to Atlantic City can hold up to six passengers, which means it would cost $4,170 for an exclusive rental of the helicopter each way. Champagne company Moët & Chandon is also involved in this offering and will give each passenger a unique champagne tumbler. Overnight guests at Ocean Hotel will also receive a chilled bottle of Moët Imperial upon arrival.
Blade primarily targets wealthy Manhattanites seeking a getaway to the Hamptons or swift access to a nearby airport. Branch, Chief Marketing Officer at Blade, mentioned that charter requests for Atlantic City have risen in recent months and the launch of their commercial service aims to open up "flights to a broader audience over the summer."
Ocean partnering with Blade might be part of their plan to snatch up as much high-end clientele in New York as possible before casinos establish themselves in the Big Apple. New York is slated to choose three casino proposals next year for licenses in the downstate area.
Casino heavyweights like Caesars Entertainment, Wynn Resorts, and Mohegan are attempting to set up integrated resort casinos in Manhattan. Other major players such as MGM Resorts, Genting, Hard Rock, Las Vegas Sands, and Bally's are creating bids in the five boroughs, Long Island, and Westchester.
