Arsonist apprehended in Zwickau. - Assault on McDonald's outlet in Zwickau

A 30-year-old arsonist broke into a fast food restaurant in Saxony on Thursday (May 16). He rushed to the drive-thru window, sprayed a mysterious liquid from a canister, then ignited it.

The explosion caused the ceiling's wires to explode, destroyed the deep fryers and grills, and blackened the walls. The terrified customers managed to escape unharmed during the arson attack.

The police and fire department subsequently arrived at the scene and cordoned off a sizeable section of the building. A Libyan was detained by the police later on. According to a police spokesperson, the motivations behind the crime and the detailed sequence of events remain completely unknown.
