Medical system changes - As a pain patient, it provides relief for me.
Folks dealing with long-term pain who have been going to the same healthcare facilities for many years might have to make adjustments.
This is possible following the reclassification of specific hospitals, affecting anyone with chronic ailments. Prof. Henriette Neumeyer from the German Hospital Society explains, "If a hospital doesn't achieve the required performance level, it won't be compensated for certain treatments. This means patients in such situations must switch to a different healthcare facility, even if they've been there for a long time. This creates a lot of worry and agitation among patients."
Shifts are also coming for individuals with chronic pain conditions and others dealing with chronic ailments when it comes to primary care physicians under the reform. Primary care physicians will receive an annual care allowance for these cases - regardless of the number of patient encounters.
Regarding the management of chronic pain with cannabis products, pharmacies can at least offer some peace of mind: "We believe all medical prescriptions can be filled," says Christian Splett from the Federal Association of German Pharmacists. "We're not aware of any supply obstacles for cannabis flowers on prescription."
