Apple removes 25,000 gambling-related apps from its Chinese App Store.
Because of some negative comments from the Chinese state television, the American technology business Apple has gotten rid of over 25,000 apps that were thought to be flouted gambling apps from the Chinese app store. The cleaning procedures of this tech giant are now heading to Norway.
The California-based tech company Apple Inc. has disapproved more than 25,000 gambling-related app applications from the Chinese market to follow Chinese censorship laws. 4,000 of the apps had 'gambling' as a keyword, and another 500 had 'lottery' as a keyword. Apple's significant step is a reaction to the Chinese Central Television (CCTV) which is linked with the Chinese Ministry of Film, Television, and Radio.
The state-controlled broadcasting channel had been blaming Apple since early July for selling illegal and fake lottery tickets. It is allege that there was an undefined number of App Store users who were convinced to download 'fake' gambling apps through bogus (favorable) reviews.
The App Store's content of this smartphone inventor does not adhere to the 'prohibited content guidelines', but Apple has been nonchalant in the matter for a long while and allowed the widespread distribution of illegal apps. "Gambling apps are illegal and should not be provided in China's app store. We have already taken out many apps and developers who attempt to spread illegal gambling apps through our app store. We are especially vigilant in finding and stopping them from being present in our app store."
Apple's Problems with the Chinese Regime
