Up to June 6, allowed? - Anti-Israel demonstration set up near Munich University.

A pro-Palestinian protest camp stationed outside Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich may continue to stay there until June. The organizers have extended their notification for the camp's duration up to June 6th, 2024, as announced by the district administration department (KVR) on Wednesday. However, an assessment of potential clashes with other registered events at the same location is underway, and a final decision is yet to be made.

Recently, the camp became embroiled in a legal battle. On Monday, KVR issued a ruling to obstruct the camp's setup near the university. However, this decision was later reversed by the Munich Administrative Court. Thereby, the authority's subsequent appeal to the Bavarian Administrative Court was dismissed.

The protest, involving approximately 100 participants, was organised to denounce the Israeli army's actions in Rafah, Gaza Strip. As a precautionary measure, the KVR considered the possibility of major disturbances to academic activities and initially decreed the camp's relocation, restricting tent numbers to five, and forbidding overnight stays.
