Garbage can blaze leads to riots and attempted break-ins. - Angry mob targets Israelis in Neukölln's riot.

In the early morning hours of Thursday, young men divided into several small groups and dispersed, stated the police. Subsequently, approximately 50 individuals streamed up Kottbusser Damm, pelting the road with any objects they could find and setting ablaze at least one trash can.

The authorities had multiple police units present at the scene.

The rioters threw whatever they could find onto the street: E-scooters, garbage cans

As the disturbance continued, this group migrated toward Karl-Marx-Straße, where fireworks were continuously set off. Mischief further escalated at the Rathaus Neukölln subway station: bicycles, electric scooters, chunks of concrete, and road signs were hurled into the street.

The police arrested several people. They obviously had something to read

The fracas finally subsided around 1 a.m., a police representative mentioned in the morning hours. A substantial number of demonstrators were taken into custody, another spokesperson confirmed.

The police formed a so-called processing line in which the data of several people was recorded, they were searched and, if necessary, charges were filed. In most cases, those whose identity was established were allowed to leave again

Well-behaved demonstration in the evening

Earlier in the day, a demonstration for Palestinian Remembrance Day on May 15th was held in Berlin-Charlottenburg, reported the police. May 15th marks the exodus and displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the Middle East conflict of 1948, shortly after the establishment of Israel. Around 600 people had gathered for this event.
