This Saturday, at 2 pm, VfB's U21 team could potentially climb to the 3rd division with a victory against Hoffenheim II. However, a victory for Stuttgarter Kickers in Homburg would put them at the top instead.
Eight years back, on 14th May 2016, was a dismal day for the sports city of Stuttgart - while VfB's professionals were demoted to the second division due to a crushing 1:3 loss against Wolfsburg, the Kickers were sent down as well thanks to a 0:1 home defeat by Chemnitz. Either of these two local rivals will be making their way back to the 3rd division this Saturday.
Fiedler enthusiaistically mentioned, "It's definitely significant for the sports city of Stuttgart to have a third division club here next season. We need to secure a win against Hoffenheim to be able to celebrate in the end."
He added, "Games against TSG are usually quite close. Both teams boast some exceptionally talented players, but also possess a strong sense of community and work very well together when defending the ball."
