"American Idol" honors Mandisa in a tribute show.

"On Monday, 'American Idol' honored the passing of a beloved singer who died earlier this month in Nashville. Mandisa was 47 years old.

A note on her official social media page read, "We request your prayers for her family and close circle of friends during this excruciatingly tough time." Mandisa had become a beacon of hope and authenticity for those facing life's challenges worldwide.

The cause of death remains unknown.

Mandisa first auditioned for 'American Idol' in 2005 and was chosen as a contestant for season five, airing in 2006.

'American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest opened up the tribute, stating, "Mandisa's cheerful disposition extended into her award-winning gospel music and devotion to her faith."

Former contestants Melinda Doolittle, Colton Dixon, and Danny Gokey then sang a cover of "Shackles (Praise You)" by the Grammy-winning group, Mary Mary - a band greatly cherished by Mandisa.

Following the performance, Seacrest posed a question to Doolittle about her deep connection with Mandisa.

"I've known her for over 20 years," Doolittle said. "We first sang together on backing tracks, then Mandisa went on 'Idol' and I cheered for her. Then I came the following season and Mandisa cheered for me. So, that's my girl, right through and through."

Gokey added, "She adored people. Mandisa was a massive supporter of other artists' music. When I was dropped from a record label, re-signed with another, and transitioned, she had the loudest voice of encouragement."

Dixon believed that "Shackles (Praise You)," a song Mandisa had performed on 'American Idol' before, encapsulated her life."
