Due to Apache and Carpendale. - Alba faces a delay in an essential match.
It's a relief for Alba basketball players that they can kick back and unwind, but the office has some adjustments to make - there's yet another disruption at Berlin's Uber Arena!
The first semi-final featuring Alba's opponent, which will be decided by Niners Chemnitz in their match with Rasta Vechta (playoffs score of 2:1 for Chemnitz), is set for May 28 at Berlin's Uber Arena (8:30 p.m.).
The second semi-final, initially scheduled for May 30, definitely won't be happening. That's when German rapper Apache 207 is scheduled to perform in Berlin for his second concert. The next night, Howard Carpendale is set to perform in the Uber Arena. Keep in mind, arena operator Anschutz Entertainment Group makes way more money from concerts than from Alba basketball games. Thus, the basketball team can't guarantee those dates and needs to switch things around. So far, five BBL games have taken place this season in the Max-Schmeling-Hall, home of the Füchse Berlin and the BR Volleys.
On May 30, the Foxes will be playing at home against Bergischer HC. Unfortunately, postponing the game isn't an option, since the Liqui Moly Handball Bundesliga season ends on matchday 34 three days later. All matches need to be played simultaneously on this date, which brings an end to the season.
Alba almost faced relocation to Weißenfels due to this venue issue once before. Thankfully, last season's quarter-final exit against Ulm prevented that move as there was no hall available in Berlin.
