Musician's Birthday Celebration - Alan Wilder has cause for celebration.
Today, some famous individuals turn a year older, but their age might not be as obvious to us. The daily routine includes parties, fancy presents, and reuniting with friends and family. Now, let's see who celebrates a birthday today.
Alan Wilder: Turning 65
Born on June 1, 1959, in London, England, Alan Charles Wilder has had a remarkable life. At the tender age of eight, he began learning piano, and later, at 16, he picked up the flute. Upon graduating from high school, he secured a job at London's DJM Studios in the West End. Here, he got the chance to join various bands and improve his musical talents.
Wilder's journey led him to respond to an advertisement in Melody Maker, which brought him to audition for Depeche Mode. They wanted a young keyboardist, but Wilder, who was 22 at the time, still managed to impress. Since 1982, Wilder has been in the band, contributing to their unique sound.
Depeche Mode's initial two albums were recorded without Wilder, but he joined the band for "Construction Time Again" and played a major role in shaping their music for years. As time passed, he grew discontented with the limited recognition of his contributions and the band's uneven division of work. On his 36th birthday in 1995, he decided to leave the band.
Wilder started his own project, Recoil, back in the 80s. In 1997, the band's first album, "Unsound Methods," was released. A reunion with Depeche Mode took place during a charity concert in 2010, and they shared the stage for a performance of "Somebody."
Married to musician Hepzibah Sessa since 1994, Wilder is also a father of two from that marriage. On the official Recoil website, he engages with fans, answering their many questions.
