Leipzig, Erfurt, and Dresden are German cities experiencing chaos. - Airport parking is set to increase in cost.
In Leipzig, you'll feel the pinch: This summer, it'll cost you almost 20% more to leave your car at the airport during your trip. This is a real shocker, as the Middle German Airport AG only raised their prices last summer.
Parking on the summer lots P20 and P15 will set you back a hefty 54 euros for a week (previously 45 euros) or 63 euros (previously 54 euros). Vacationers are livid!
Parking at the deck on P2 near the terminal is also getting more costly: A week now costs an extra 10 euros - 75 instead of 85 euros.
The airport owner justifies this by saying they've got higher maintenance and investment costs.
Looking at the annual comparison, the increase is even more dramatic: Before the hike last summer, P2 cost just 62 euros for the whole week! That's 23 euros more, which travelers have to cough up a third more.
But with about 5,500 parking spaces in high demand and usually fully booked, the airport advises booking in advance online, as it's often cheaper.
Parking gets pricier at Erfurt Airport, too
Prices are also rising at Erfurt Airport, Thuringia's capital. However, the hike here is more moderate.
- 7 days on the parking lot: 65,00 €
- 14 days on the parking lot: 90,00 €
- 7 days in the parking garage: 70,00 €
- 14 days in the parking garage: 100,00 €
Score a parking deal at Dresden Airport
With over 4,500 spaces available, Dresden Airport is popular among tourists. Its affordable "Low-Cost-Outdoor Parking Lot" P4A, located within walking distance of the terminal, is a favorite. An affordable 15 euros gets you 7 to 9 days of parking, while 10 to 16 days cost 25 euros and three weeks will set you back 35 euros.
Arne Schwerin, the Communications Officer, shares that the prices haven't gone up since 2022. The Consumer Center tested German airport parking lots last year - Dresden emerged as the most affordable option, with travelers able to park there at the lowest cost.
