Under American Leadership: - Aid reaches Gaza for the first time via a seaborne route.

A team of international members aimed to assist the Palestinian civilians through a humanitarian sea passage, the statement continued. On Thursday, the US military connected the sea bridge's floating pier to the shore.

The pier was designed to function as a center for the distribution of aid resources. Previously, the Gaza Strip lacked a deep-water port for big cargo vessels. As per the Pentagon, about 90 truckloads of aid are scheduled to reach Gaza every day via this route. In time, this number is predicted to rise to 150 truckloads per day.

The idea is for freighters to bring humanitarian supplies from Cyprus to a floating platform a couple of kilometers away from the Gaza Strip's shoreline. These goods are loaded onto smaller ships that can approach closer to the coast. These smaller vessels will then dock at the temporary pier tied to the shore. There, the relief items will be taken by aid groups.

Numerous tons of disaster relief packs are prepared for transportation via ships in the eastern Mediterranean, said Admiral Brad Cooper of US Central Command. "This is a 100% aid mission. Any assault on those engaging in this endeavor is a violation of the aids meant for Gaza's people," he warns. (dpa/ias)
