Excitement abounds in ice hockey games! - After the Sweden defeat, events took place at the team hotel.

National coach Harry Kreis (65) appeared collected after Germany's 1:6 loss to Sweden. However, a heated argument ensued in the team hotel later that night. Kreis admonished the players for their disappointing performance.

What transpired?

Time for Change

The team gathered at the hotel around 11:30 pm on Monday evening for a meeting with an irked coach. The defeat demanded a response. The general sentiment was clear: Enough is enough! This marked the beginning of their journey at the World Cup.

Kreis expressed his frustration, citing their mishandling of the first two periods. They'd given up 35 shots in 40 minutes. He stressed the importance of their strengths and virtues like resilience and determination. Several duels were lost against Sweden.

The team has a resident psychologist, but Kreis dismissed the need for him, asserting he was their coach.

Self-criticism and Fun

The players were equally critical of their performance. Jonas Müller (Eisbären Berlin) admitted they weren't ready for the game, were late on opponent attacks, and failed to challenge them effectively. He suggested they could've used an additional two shots on net. If they lacked intensity, their opponents would exploit the gap.

Captain Morris Müller (Cologne Sharks) agreed with Jonas, stating they were playing too cautiously and carrying bottled-up anxieties from the previous season. He noted their defense was leaky, and a united team effort was crucial. He also reassured everyone that the forthcoming matches wouldn't be about fighting but fun.

Morris shared that following the team meeting, they'd drink water instead of beer the next day. Alcohol wouldn't help their cause.

Ice Hockey World Championship is where the real test begins. Germany needs at least three wins against Latvia, Kazakhstan, Poland, and France. Four wins should be enough for the quarter-finals.
