Accusations of promoting hatred. - adolescents torched "Anne Frank's Diary"
In the afternoon on a Wednesday, three young individuals were seen causing damage to a book at a bus stop in Aken. They then set part of it on fire in a waste bin. A representative from the Dessau-Roßlau Public Prosecutor's Office in Saxony-Anhalt shared this information on a Thursday.
Upon arrival, authorities found the fire had been extinguished. The authorities suspect the youths of spreading hate. In a shared statement, the Public Prosecutor's Office and police confirmed the damaged book was an edition of 'The Diary of Anne Frank'.
After the police completed their actions, the juvenile offenders were returned to their legal guardians. Due to the suspects' age, the authorities cannot provide any additional details.
Anne Frank (born in 1929) was hiding with her family from the Nazis during World War II. During this time, the teenager kept a diary. It was published posthumously. Unfortunately, Frank was killed at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp just before the end of the war.
