A renowned sporting goods brand. - Adidas executive comments on unexpected departure as DFB provider

The CEO of Adidas, Björn Gulden, isn't upset about losing the supplier contract with the German Football Association (DFB). In fact, he considers it a wise decision. "I'm not disappointed," he stated in a phone call from Herzogenaurach on Tuesday.

Nike triumphs over Adidas

Nike, Adidas' main competitor from the US, won the contract for Germany's four-time soccer world champion because they supposedly offered around 100 million Euros per year - roughly double what Adidas had been paying so far. This means the partnership between DFB and Adidas, which has spanned over 70 years, will be over in 2027.

Gulden emphasized that Adidas' deal with the DFB is already the wealthiest one for any national organization. "We're a company that needs to assess costs and revenue. We wouldn't want to pay the reported price that our rival has paid," he said.
