Adam Levine of Maroon 5 Stomps Out of Planned Cosmopolitan Las Vegas Club Engagement

The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas experienced an unexpected celebrity altercation on Saturday night.

Adam Levine, the lead singer of Maroon 5, apparently left a scheduled appearance at Barbershop Cuts & Cocktails nightclub after experiencing a misunderstanding. Following the last show of the band's "M5:LV" residency at the Dolby Live Theater at Park MGM, Levine arrived at the club on time at 11 p.m. but had exited by 11:15. The cause? A miscommunication about where his entourage of 40 people and the overall crowd size would be seated, causing the venue's general manager, Craig Dee, to declare it a "miscommunication."

An eyewitness @Vegasstarfish tweeted a less delicate version of the unfolding events: "He threw a tantrum and stormed out."

The expenses of Levine's appearance at the club are unknown, but most celebrity appearances in Las Vegas, especially those where VIP invitations commit the celebrities to attend, are commercial deals of some kind. Levine showed up with his bandmates, James Carmichael and Sam Farrar, and his wife, Behati Prinsloo, a Namibian model.

The club's house band, Radio Xx, had a microphone out on the stage, eagerly awaiting Levine's performance. However, when the singer was offered VIP seating near the stage, he declined and departed. Instead, he desired to reside in the back of the venue's "owner's booth."

The event attempted to mimic similar appearances by recent Dolby Live headliners Bruno Mars and Anderson.Paak, who collaborated at the smaller club after their Silk Sonic performance last August. Although Levine wasn't expected to sing for the exclusive VIP crowd, it was planned for him to socialize with them. MGM Resorts International, which now owns both the Cosmo and Park MGM, tried to orchestrate these "pop-up" performances by Dolby Live headliners at smaller venues to create hype.

Despite his earlier intentions, Levine's desire to sit in the "owner's booth" at the venue's rear contributed to his departure.
