The massive presence of hard rock music is on its way. - AC/DC to Perform Twice in Munich's Olympic Stadium
AC/DC has been performing for more than five decades, and they're still going strong. On June 9th and 12th, the talented band will hit the stage at Munich's Olympiastadion. The double outdoor show will feature classic hits like "Highway To Hell," "Hells Bells," and "Thunderstruck," as well as tunes from their latest number one album "Power Up."
A Long-standing Relationship with Munich
Munich has had a lasting connection with the iconic band. Back in 1976, just a few years after their inception, AC/DC played at two concerts - one in the memorable PN-Club on Leopoldstraße and another at the Circus Krone. The following year, they stunned audiences at the Schwabinger Brau, even opening for Harry Belafonte. From 1980 onwards, the Aussie rockers performed nine times at the Olympiahalle and four times at the Olympiastadion, with their last performance there being eight years ago.
This time around, Angus Young will don his school uniform, as always, on the lead guitar with singer Brian Johnson, rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, and two new bandmates: Matt Laug, who's played with the likes of Alice Cooper and Alanis Morissette on drums, and Chris Chaney, formerly of Jane's Addiction, on bass.
Getting There and Parking
Doors open for both shows at the Olympiastadion at 4 pm, with The Pretty Reckless taking the stage at 7 pm. To make it to the action, you can take the U3 subway line to Olympiazentrum or the S1 to Moosach, then hop on the U3 or U8 to Olympiazentrum - it's just a ten-minute walk from there.
Alternatively, you could opt for trams 20 and 21 to the Olympiapark West stop and tram line 27 to the Petuelring stop, which is roughly a five-minute walk away. Additionally, city bus lines 144, 173, 177, and 178 will take you to the stadium area.
If you prefer traveling by car, various parking lots and garages can be found around the Olympic Park in the Mittlerer Ring (Landshuter Allee) area. Just follow the signs or instructions from the on-site stewards!
Tickets Sold out in a Matter of Minutes
They launched a cryptic countdown on their website, and ticket sales for an impressive nine-show German tour began in mid-February. Fans endured wait times of up to an hour or more in the digital queue just to procure tickets. The least expensive tickets, for the upper tiers and back rows, were priced at approximately €153.
Officially, 60,000 fans can fit in the stadiums. But as tickets sold out almost immediately, some reappeared on the questionable secondary market for up to €1,000, leaving fans feeling dismayed.
