Delaying the beginning of incarceration. - Abusive politician walks away unpunished

A man named Wolski is holding two plastic bags in his hands. He's the ex-deputy mayor of Lünen, and he's filled them with trial documents, a water bottle, and some personal stuff. Today, he's finally able to pick up the rest of his belongings from the remand prison.

Wolski hurries over to his lawyer, Arabella Pooth's car, and gets in. She hadn't been able to convince the court to let her client out of pre-trial detention earlier this year. The judge believed there was a high risk of Wolski repeating his criminal behavior and trying to cover it up. So, the politician just had to stay locked up.

But today, the court found Wolski guilty and sentenced him to three years and six months in prison. The fact that he confessed to his actions and participated in a victim-offender mediation did help to reduce his punishment. The trained insurance salesman even gave his victims up to 1000 euros and wrote apology letters. Not all of the teenagers chose to accept the money.

Deciding on an appeal

Wolski's lawyers have a week to study the written verdict and decide if they'll challenge the decision.

Wolski's defense lawyer, Edgar Fiebig, shared after the trial that his client plans to use his time off to begin therapy during his prison term.

Sadly, many of the teenagers involved in this case are in desperate need of psychological assistance due to the trauma they experienced. Despite knowing he was talking to minors, Wolski didn't back down from his intentions.

The judge read aloud a conversation: "After a victim refused a meeting, Wolski responded 'You're mean'. The victim replied back 'I'm not mean, I'm a child'." The court confirmed that Wolski was aware the girl was under 13 years old.
