Even she possessed a desk and a printer. - A woman spent a year residing in seclusion behind a supermarket sign.
In Midland, Michigan, a woman resided atop a Family Fare supermarket sign for an entire year. The 34-year-old woman created a cozy living space on the rooftop, complete with furniture, clothes, a pantry, a printer, and a plant. The sign's unique design, which features a hollowed-out area behind a three-meter-high spike, provided the perfect hiding spot for her.
The woman was found when construction workers noticed an extension cord extending from one of the rooftop units to the sign. Curious, they investigated and made the shocking discovery. They alerted the supermarket's management, who then notified the police.
When officers arrived on the scene, they encountered the homeless woman, who was eager to leave. She willingly complied and vacated the property the same day. However, she was unable to take all of her possessions with her, as some were left behind. The store cooperated with her by helping her move the remaining items. The media named her the "Rooftop Ninja" due to her secretive lifestyle.
The woman was seen infrequently throughout the year, yet nobody suspected her of living behind the sign. There was no indication that she intended to stay there long-term. When asked about her mysterious presence, the police spokesperson remarked, "No one really knew where she went and no one expected her to live behind the sign."
