Munich: City in Focus - A woman misplaces 100,000 euros' worth of gold bars while riding the bus.
One Saturday night, at around 2 am, a bus driver in Munich found something surprising while parking his bus - a shopping bag loaded with gold and platinum bars worth over €100,000! The driver, known for his honesty, reported the bag to the police. A patrol promptly located the bag and handed it over to the authorities.
Since the possibility of connections to crimes like call center fraud couldn't be ruled out right away, the police department for property crimes started investigating. After thorough probing, they were able to identify the owner of the bag: a 65-year-old lady from Munich. She went to the police station on Monday afternoon to retrieve her lost treasure.
The lady revealed that she had received a considerable amount of money through inheritance in the past and simply forgot about the bag. The bus driver's details were forwarded to her, and he was rewarded with the legally permitted finder's fee.
