A farming vehicle collided with a metal electricity post in a field near Blankenburg (Harz district), resulting in a fire. The crash on Monday night took out a power cable, setting the tractor ablaze as reported by the authorities in Halberstadt on Tuesday. The 39-year-old driver sustained severe injuries and was immediately airlifted to a hospital in Halle. Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. The regional power company had to shut down electricity to Derenburg, a district of Blankenburg, temporarily leaving residents without power. The combined cost of the damage is estimated at around half a million euros as stated by the police.
