Are you attracted to the same kind of female? - A potential obstacle to forming a friendship.
A research published in the "Journal of Social and Personal Relationships" revealed that men's liking for certain partners affects their attitude towards potential male friends. However, a woman's taste in men has no bearing on her ability to be friends with other women.
Lead researcher Kelly Campbell explains, "The study offers the first evidence that men's partner choices affect their reactions to potential male friends from the moment they meet."

Thirty-eight participants, 20 of whom were males, and 18 were females, all heterosexual, were chosen for the research. They were shown 20 photos of the opposite sex and asked to rate them on attractiveness. This was followed by a three-hour "speed-friending" session where they interacted with every other participant for three minutes. They later answered a survey to determine their friend attractiveness.
Strange but True: 20 Questions
The survey included 20 questions. Let's look at some of the more peculiar ones:
- Before you make a call, do you ever practice what you'll say? Why?
- When was the last time you sang to yourself? To another person?
- If you could live to be 90 and keep either the mind of a 30-year-old or the body for the last 60 years, what would you choose?
- Share your most humiliating experience.
- What topics are too serious to joke about?
- Would you trade a whole year of nightmares for a large sum of money?
Men seemed to have higher friend attractiveness ratings with males who were not into the same women they favored. This phenomenon was not present among the participants who were female.
