Scuba divers managed to pull him out from the river bed. - A person dies by drowning in the Spree river.
Around 8:30 pm, emergency call center for the fire department started receiving multiple calls. A man had disappeared in the Spree river near Holzmarkt event venue. Two other men had jumped in to save him but couldn't find the swimmer.
Fire department arrived with a team of 42 rescuers, which included divers. DRK and ASB brought their boats and extra divers to the scene.
The two rescuers were able to give an exact location of where the swimmer went under. From Holzmarktstraβe and Köpenicker Straβe, rescuers entered the Spree river.
Due to the detailed information given by the rescuers, the divers located the man at the bottom of the Spree River and brought him out of the water. Emergency doctors managed to revive him. The casualty was taken to the hospital, but he didn't survive and passed away in the wee hours of the night. Police are now investigating this unfortunate incident.
