Police in the United States left astonished - A mother locked her two-year-old son in a horrifying cage.
Officers entered Naesha L.'s (24) home due to a crime-related incident and found her son trapped in a despicable cage. The cage was made up of a playpen and covered with part of a crib, making it impossible for him to stand up or escape. It was also filled with feces. Surrounding the cage were piles of garbage and food scraps, including chicken bones.
"It was just disgusting," said Officer James O'Callaghan to "WKBW-TV" about the sight. "I mean, there were food scraps inside the cage. Chicken bones were scattered around."
Police were given several explanations for why the boy was kept in the dirty cage, but none were satisfactory. Naesha L.'s unacceptable explanation, "Anyone who has children or has seen this picture knows there's no reason why a child should live like that."
Upon examination at the hospital, doctors noted bruises on the child's face and body, and two of his ribs were found to be broken. Naesha L. tried to claim that her son had fallen down a flight of stairs, causing his injuries and crying, but she didn't consider it necessary to seek medical attention.
The disturbing discovery occurred in early February, but the case has only just been made public. Naesha L. will face charges for endangering the welfare of a child, potentially resulting in a one-year prison sentence if convicted.
