Day out hiking for the entire family - A mishap occurs involving three canoeists on the Lahn river.

The Gießen district's volunteer fire brigade relayed that three individuals had turned upside down in their canoe and were trapped over a foot deep in the middle of the Lahn river. The intense current made it difficult for them to escape on their own.

On Sunday, a family outing was planned, aiming to reach a grill hut at the Angelteich in Lollar. When bystanders spotted the helpless trio, they alerted rescue teams. "We promptly notified additional emergency personnel and rushed to inspect the situation first-hand," the statement goes.

As it turned out, the rescue operation presented a complex challenge: two of the individuals were lodged near the bridge pylon in the center of the Lahn river, while the third was stationed behind the bridge.

The fire department's highly trained flood and current rescue specialists ultimately managed to securely retrieve all three people from the water. They employed a rescue line and a ladder in the process. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported.
