A Las Vegas synagogue has gifted an ambulance to Israel, aiding in saving lives.

A congregation in Las Vegas, specifically Temple Beth Sholom, has managed to collect enough funds to donate a modern ambulance to Israel. The move comes at a time when the country is experiencing high casualties from ongoing conflict with terrorists.

Temple Beth Sholom, situated west of the Las Vegas Strip, recently disclosed their decision to use $140K to procure a mobile intensive care unit (MICU) ambulance.

The synagogue now seeks to raise more funds to donate a second ambulance.

The contributions will be directed towards Magen David Adom (MDA), a local Israeli counterpart to the Red Cross. The organization provides treatment to individuals regardless of their backgrounds, including Jews and Arabs.

This decision was made in response to the massacre that occurred on October 7, a religious holiday. The atrocities left the congregation's members disturbed, prompting discussions on how best to offer assistance.

Describing the rationale behind the congregation's choice, Rabbi Felipe Goodman shared, "I think we decided to raise money for an ambulance because it's a practical way of providing physical help to people in distress. There's no more horrifying thing than going through a war."

Ambulance Specifications

MDA's MICU ambulances boast advanced technology for treating people with traumatic injuries. They also carry devices designed to save lives in cases of heart attacks and strokes.

Each ambulance is crewed by a paramedic, capable of performing life-saving procedures before the patient reaches the hospital.

MICU ambulances have been crucial in recent times. 1,400 deaths and 5,400 injuries resulted from the October 7 massacre. 222 hostages were also taken, with only four of them being released so far.

Currently, the Israeli government is involved in an offensive against the Hamas organization, managing the Gaza Strip. The ongoing skirmishes have resulted in countless casualties on both sides.

Ambulances Destroyed

Robert Rosenthal, chief marketing officer for American Friends of Magen David Adom, explained that at least a dozen rescue vehicles have been destroyed since the conflict began. Thus, the fleet required renewal.

The destruction of the vehicles was caused by rockets, bullets, or shrapnel shells.

A tragic incident occurred on October 7 when a paramedic named Aharon Haimov, 25, was shot and killed while driving an ambulance to his hometown to treat injured civilians. He leaves behind his wife and two children.

MDA is also facing shortages of other tools and materials because of the surge in casualties.

"The demand is enormous," Rosenthal reported. "During the initial four days of conflict, more hemostatic bandages and tourniquets were used than in the entire previous year."

MDA is also in charge of overseeing blood supplies across Israel. Demand for blood has remarkably increased owing to the causing events.

The necessity for both blood and ambulance services in Israel is expected to persist. With the Gaza conflict ongoing, more fronts may open in places like Lebanon.

"The needs will continue to grow exponentially if a second front with Hezbollah erupts, putting hundreds of thousands of Israelis at risk," Rosenthal cautioned.
