A hypothetical showdown between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg: Who would win bets?
Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, two incredibly wealthy individuals, have playfully suggested the possibility of a cage fight on their respective social media platforms. The mere hint of this match has prompted certain online bookmakers to set hypothetical odds.
Rumors have surfaced that Meta Platforms, Inc. (formerly known as Facebook Inc.), led by Zuckerberg, is creating a social media platform similar to Twitter, allegedly called "Threads." These reports emerged after Musk bought Twitter for a whopping $44 billion last year. Zuckerberg aims to create a "sane" Twitter-like platform, according to leaked information.
In response to the gossip on Twitter, Musk was nonchalant: "I'm sure Earth can't wait to be exclusively under Zuck's thumb with no other options. At least it will be 'sane.' Was worried there for a moment."
After a Twitter user insinuated that Zuckerberg practices jiu-jitsu, Musk remarked: "I'm up for a cage match if he is lol."
Musk is the richest person on Earth with an estimated net worth of around $293.5 billion, while Zuckerberg holds ninth place with around $101.1 billion.
Betting Begins
When rumors swirled online that Zuckerberg had equated the fight to a "cage match" in his live Instagram story, it sparked a surge of interest. The idea of the billionaire brawl became even more enticing as one offshore sportsbook began to accept hypothetical bets.
Musk was listed as the favorite with odds of -150, while Zuckerberg was the underdog at +110. These odds indicate that there's a 60% chance of Musk winning and a 48% chance of Zuckerberg prevailing. For a $100 bet, a potential return would be $66.67 for Musk and $110 for Zuckerberg.
A different offshore sportsbook took a different approach to the hypothetical line, proposing that Zuckerberg was the even stronger favorite at -160, with Musk being the underdog at +140. In contrast, more heavily favoring Zuckerberg, another offshore bookie set his odds at -500 and Musk's at +300.
It's crucial to recognize that no American sportsbook has yet to reveal betting odds that can be legally placed. Such bets cannot be placed until the fight is officially scheduled and the event takes place under an accepted regulator, such as the Nevada Athletic Commission.
UFC President Voices Support
Musk seems to be seriously considering the Zuckerberg fight and has mentioned the UFC Octagon in Las Vegas as a potential location. White, the UFC President, confirmed he has already talked with both men and can vouch for their sincerity:
"I was talking to both Elon and Mark last night. Both guys are absolutely dead serious about this. Mark Zuckerberg hit me up first and asked if he was serious. I said, 'I don't know, let me ask him.' I asked Elon, and he said, 'Yeah, I'm dead serious.'"
White anticipates an unprecedented event: "This would be the biggest fight ever in the history of the world." He is convinced the fight would shatter all pay-per-view records and potentially generate a significant amount of money for charity.
"You don't have to be a fight fan to be interested in this fight," White concluded. "Everyone would want to see it."
