Two people sustained injuries. - A high-wing aircraft experiences a crash landing, flipping onto its side.
On a Sunday morning, a training exercise at the Nordhausen-Bielen airfield in Thuringia went awry. An Ultralight aircraft, a CT Supersport, reportedly lost control while landing, spiraled out of control, and then took off again.
When the high-wing craft touched down for the second time, it's believed that the nose wheel snapped off, leading the machine to roll onto its roof.
The pilot, aged 57, who had been out of flying for some time and was attempting to renew his license, and his flight instructor, aged 74, were both hurt in the accident and transferred to the hospital.
The specific cause of the accident remains unclear, and police are presently conducting an investigation. The airfield sustained extensive damage valued at 70,000 euros. Emergency services, police, and firefighters were all present at the scene. The airfield was subsequently closed.
