Exciting confrontation between local Hamburg teams - A heated dispute occurred during the practice session.
During the pre-game warm-ups, around 30 players and staff members from both teams clash, have a physical altercation on the field, and argue with each other.
The leader of the HSV team, Jonas Boldt, steps in and separates the brawlers. St. Pauli's sports director, Andreas Bornemann, also intervenes. St. Pauli's assistant coach, Peter Nemeth, is especially upset and difficult to calm down.
The reason for the fight: HSV felt provoked by their city rivals. During the warm-up, the St. Pauli players ran into the opposing team's half and disrupted the HSV reserves' circle game. Boldt on Sky: "It was the case that the warm-up shifted into our half. We had that in the first game as well. It was a coincidence then, and it was probably the same today. We politely asked them to do it in their half."
History: In the first game (2:2), the St. Pauli professionals had also entered the HSV half during the warm-ups. At the time, it was said that it was an accident.
This time, no one believed it. That's why there was tension.
St. Pauli's head coach, Fabian Hürzeler, didn't see it as such a big deal: "As long as everything stays within reason, it's fine. I believe that everything will be fair in the game and hope that the atmosphere in the stands will remain peaceful."
The crowds were just as heated. Pyro was set off in the home and away sections during the second division match.
