Deadly hazard on freeway - A fatal accident takes place on the A9 road.
Around 3:40 am near Leipzig-Halle Airport, a terrible accident took place. This was confirmed by the Leipzig police situation center.
It seems that a man was struck by a car on the right side of the road. Unfortunately, the first responders and emergency services couldn't save him. The man passed away on the spot.
To find the deceased's personal belongings, the emergency services searched the surrounding area. It's possible they were thrown away during the impact. The car's passengers, on the other hand, were in shock and needed medical treatment.
The fire department and police closed the carriageway between Leipzig-West and Großkugel. As a result, a traffic jam that reached for miles was created during the recovery operations. The A9 at the Schkeuditzer Kreuz junction was completely shut down until mid-morning. It's uncertain how long the closure will remain.
No official statement was made by the Leipzig police regarding any other cars being involved, or if the accident victim was simply a passerby. His identity remains unknown.
