Judith Rakers' Case. - A digital home farming venture earns recognition.
Judith Rakers, the former "Tagesschau" presenter, started off "without a green thumb." Now, her "Homefarming" project has won her the prestigious "Golden Blogger" digital award. This recognition came during a ceremony held in Neuss. Tupoka Ogette, a podcaster and racism trainer, took home the title of "Blogger of the Year." The research network "Correctiv" was honored with a special prize. Remarkably, 75-year-old presenter and author Christine Westermann was named the Newcomer of the Year.
Her Journey to a Rural Life
Judith Rakers has a remarkable knack for identifying what is appealing to Internet farmers, all without any prior gardening experience. Some years ago, she decided to change her life entirely. She swapped her urban lifestyle for a rural existence. There, she cultivates fruits and vegetables on her own farm and raises chickens. Living the dream of her own small farm, she shares her experiences as a farmer through her podcast "Homefarming - Make Good Food at Home." On her accompanying website, she imparts practical tips on planting and offers recipes, in addition to talking about more serious issues like dealing with avian influenza. Her impact as a role model for city dwellers pursuing their rural dreams was rewarded at the Neuss ceremony, with Rakers in awe of her achievement, as demonstrated in the photographs.
Tupoka Ogette Receives "Blogger of the Year"
Tupoka Ogette, a writer, podcaster, and trainer, has been working to combat racism for quite some time. At the awards, she was recognized as "Blogger of the Year." Similarly, the journalists from the research network "Correctiv" tackled this pressing issue in an impressive way. They meticulously researched the "Secret Plan for Germany" and exposed a meeting of the new right in Potsdam in November 2023. Their journalistic work has now garnered them the jury's special prize.
Award-Winning Team of Westermann and Ameziane
Presenters Mona Ameziane and Christine Westermann share a love of compelling stories. Despite a 45-year age gap, they attract a diverse audience with their literary podcast "Zwei Seiten." Surprisingly, Christine Westermann, the oldest award recipient at 75, not only set an age record in the event's history but also won the award in the "Newcomer" category. Along with Ameziane, she was the joint winner of this distinction. On the other hand, influencer and actor Phil Laude and comedienne Lara Maria Groppler, both 33 and 25 respectively, are seasoned pros in the digital realm. Together, they created the entertaining internet series "Almans um die Welt" where they parody stereotypical German habits abroad.
