49 children are saved from a structure. - A daycare center suffers €200,000 in damage due to a fire.

A fire erupted in Vogtland on a Wednesday afternoon during some construction work on a building. It is speculated that the fire might have been triggered by welding activities at around 1:30 pm.

Luckily, the fire was spotted early on, allowing for a swift evacuation of the premises. No injuries were reported, as confirmed by a representative from the Zwickau police.

Unfortunately, the newly renovated structure took quite a hit, with damages estimated to be around 200,000 euros. The roof of the daycare facility was annihilated by the blaze. Efforts to put out the fire extended well into the evening.

With the daycare center now deemed unsafe for use, the 49 children required an alternative place of care. A crisis team put their heads together and secured a temporary shelter for the kids on the same day.

Per MDR, the daycare children will be looking at a stay in a neighboring village, Wernesgrün, whilst the older ones will move into an elementary school's building on a temporary basis. There is no confirmation yet on how soon the building might be rebuilt or how long the kids will be away from their original location.
