Education suspended in Georgsmarienhütte province. - A blaze damages the roof of a high school.
At around 4:30 in the morning, an emergency call was received by the control center. They rushed to the site of a fire on Carl-Stahmer-Weg, Georgsmarienhütte in Lower Saxony. Upon arrival, the fire department found the upper stairwell and roof ablaze.
During the afternoon, the emergency services declared "fire out". However, the cause of the blaze and the total damage are yet to be determined. It is known that the fire started in the upper floor. The police are currently conducting an investigation. Thankfully, no one was injured in this incident.
On Monday, May 13, the Osnabrück district made an announcement over their website and social media: all classes had been canceled for all grades. Normally, these notifications are sent via the school server, but unexpected technical issues made this impossible.
As per "NOZ", students will be given homework to complete in the meantime. The exact time when they can return to their school building is still undisclosed.
