At about 1:50 pm, the garbage truck crew was navigating their way through Melanchthonstraße towards Stapenhorststraße. They stopped a few times to do their job. Following them was a Ford Fiesta driven by a 53-year-old man from Bielefeld. It was evident that the man was in a hurry and was driving too close behind the garbage truck. The employee signaled for him to keep a safe distance, but he disregarded these gestures.
When the employee stepped down to assist his colleague in maneuvering the truck, the Bielefeld man drove incredibly close to him and ran over his foot. The 53-year-old didn't pause to check if the employee was okay and just continued on his way.
Afterwards, the worker reported experiencing pain in his foot. Determining the license plate number led the police to the man from Bielefeld, who is now being charged with negligent bodily harm and hit-and-run.
