Lost since the evening of Sunday. - A 41-year-old man falls off his kayak and submerges in the water.
At dusk, a pair of gentlemen were navigating a small vessel on the Niedringhaussee in Lotte-Wersen's North Rhine-Westphalia. Right around 8:10 pm, these two chaps were unexpectedly plunged into the water. One of them didn't make it out alive, while the other was saved. Folks who saw the mishap immediately reported it to the fire department and police.
There was a massive search operation with divers, helicopters, sonar boats, and drones launched on Sunday evening as a result of the incident, but sadly, it was all for naught. The search had to be called off at midnight because it had grown too dark.
The rescuers took up the hunt for the missing man once more on Monday morning, using a helicopter, boats, and divers on the Niedringhaussee.
Reports say the missing kayaker is a 41-year-old fellow who was only in Lotte-Wersen to visit family. Some of his relatives were actually on the lake and were the first to witness the accident. They were later provided with crisis counseling.
The watercraft involved in the accident is thought to be an inflatable kayak. We're still unsure of what caused the two men to fall out of the boat.
