Tragedy strikes on Father's Day - A 38-year-old man passed away in a collision between two vehicles.
In a tragic crash, a 38-year-old man from Altötting, Bavaria, lost his life while driving his Passat. This unfortunate incident occurred when a VW bus, carrying a family of five, suddenly crossed into the oncoming lane around 4:30 p.m. near the area between Marktl and Burghausen. Both vehicles collided head-on.
As a result of this accident, five individuals, including three children aged 1 and 15, were left injured. Three of them endured severe injuries that could potentially be life-threatening. Sadly, the driver of the Passat succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. All injured victims were transferred to different clinics across southern Bavaria.
Authorities have ordered an accident analysis and technical report to gain a better understanding of what led to this horrific incident. The fire department sent 71 firefighters to the scene. Fully equipped ambulances, emergency doctors, and five rescue helicopters were also present at the crash site to give immediate medical assistance to the victims.
This major road remained closed in both directions for a significant period of time.
