She endured with severe wounds. - A 36-year-old man set off a firecracker inside his ex-partner's vagina.

The district attorney's office is currently probing Oleksandr S. for an attempt on someone's life.

The trial recently commenced, revealing harrowing details. A woman from Moldova had previously separated from her Ukrainian husband and met him to retrieve crucial documents. After that, she was apparently convinced to engage in consensual intercourse with him. What unfolded subsequently was sheer terror for the woman.

It happened in September at Kožlany (Czech Republic) when the woman declined his demands to return to him again. This put her life in serious jeopardy.

Deceitful offender

"He clamped a piece of cloth over his wife's mouth and attached it with adhesive tape. After that, he tied her hands behind her back with the same tape. He then inserted a firecracker into her genital area and ignited it," said prosecutor Martin Rykl in Czech Meiden.

The court heard the woman's account of her near-death fear: "He inserted a firecracker into my vagina. This had happened before. He had a lighter in his hands, but he didn't use it. I thought it would be the same this time. However, he stowed it, ignited it, and made it explode."

Despite the dire circumstances, Oleksandr S. drove his spouse to a hospital in Plzen, which was roughly 40 kilometers away, and told the medical professionals that her injuries resulted from a blow to her abdomen. But the doctors didn't accept his explanation and reported the case to the police. His arrest followed.

The district attorney's office pushed for a 20-year jail sentence for attempted murder and expulsion from the Czech Republic in the ongoing trial.
