Insolvency during the race! - 96 worries about Köhn's master's bonus

In February, Derrick Köhn (25) switched from Hannover 96 to Galatasaray Istanbul in the Turkish league. This move cost Galatasaray a significant amount, with an initial payment of 3.5 million euros and the potential for an additional 4 million with future add-ons.

Köhn's transfer contract has clauses related to his appearances and bonuses, including for winning the Champions League, cup, and league championship. Unfortunately for Galatasaray, they were knocked out of the cup early.

However, their league streak was impressive, with 18 straight wins. The title seemed to be a sure thing. But then something unexpected happened - on the penultimate matchday, they unexpectedly lost to their rivals Fenerbahçe, 0-1. This has put their championship in jeopardy - and with it, the 96 bonus.

Galatasaray's Title Slip-up Affects 96's Bonus

Galatasaray appeared to be at a numerical disadvantage for most of the game, but still conceded their first home defeat of the season. Köhn, who had started in every game, was replaced by striker Aktürkoğlu two minutes after their opponent scored the decisive goal (Söyüncü/71). Galatasaray still couldn't manage a draw or solidify their title win in that game.

Championship on the Line for Both Teams

With just one game left in the season, Galatasaray has a slender three-point lead over Fenerbahce. Fenerbahce's last match is against last-placed Istanbulspor, while Galatasaray has to face their fearsome opponents Konyaspor. If both teams manage a draw, they'll achieve their respective goals - Konyaspor will secure their safety and Galatasaray will take the title.

Hannover 96 will be anxiously watching from the sidelines, hoping for a potential second chance at the title.
