Large disarray in Vechta! - 26,000 liters of pig waste spilled following an incident.
One Saturday at 10:25 a.m., a pretty gnarly accident took place near the intersection of Oldenburger Straße and Bundesstraße 69, in a town called Vechta.
As per the police report, a 23-year-old guy from Preußisch Oldendorf was cruising along at a speed that was way too high, considering he had a fully loaded slurry tractor and trailer. Turns out, he was headed left when the slurry in his trailer began shifting and the whole thing went toppling over.
Pictures taken at the scene showed the road covered in cattle slurry, which had been successfully transported but not so successfully contained. The unlucky driver, age 23 and from Minden, North Rhine-Westphalia, sustained some minor injuries from the accident. He was taken to get some medical attention.
Because the junction was closed as part of the cleanup process, and because there was a petrol station on Vardeler Weg, people couldn't get through. The whole clean-up operation took a while, lasting through lunchtime.
In the end, the damage to the transportation vehicle was estimated at 90,000 euros.
