Millions discovered in Lower Saxony. - 190 kilograms of cocaine found in banana boxes.

Investigators in Lower Saxony have scored a significant victory. They discovered a large shipment of cocaine hidden in boxes of bananas.

In mid-April, employees at a fruit store in Hildesheim, Lower Saxony, noticed some odd packages in a shipment of bananas and alerted the police. The bananas were supposed to be distributed to various branches of a popular grocery chain.

For three days, officers from the customs investigation department, the Lower Saxony State Criminal Police Office, and the police searched through thousands of boxes of bananas from Colombia, confiscating a staggering 185 packages of cocaine weighing approximately 190 kilos. The cocaine was smuggled in through the port of Hamburg on a container ship. The estimated street value of the cocaine is around six million euros.

More cocaine found at grocery store branches

A week later, more packages of cocaine were found in several branches of the food chain in the Berlin-Brandenburg area. Investigators are still trying to determine if store operators or employees were involved in the drug trade.
