Main station in Dortmund - 16-year-old attacks cop following theft incident

Last night at about 11:50 pm, a retail worker at a discount store in the main train station notified the Dortmund police department about a case of shoplifting. The officers promptly arrived at the scene and met the 16-year-old Guinean suspect inside the shop. However, the youth seemed uncooperative and refused to talk. All of a sudden, he attempted to flee towards the station square, but was promptly apprehended by the police just a few meters away. While being taken into custody, he struggled and lashed out at the officers by kicking them multiple times. But thankfully, no one was harmed.

At the time of the arrest, his identity was confirmed through a fingerprint scan. Following protocol, the local youth welfare office in Herdecke was contacted for their input before releasing the minor. Consequently, the federal police have launched an investigation into charges of assaulting law enforcement officers, resisting arrest, and theft.
