A new opportunity has opened for poker fans who like to keep their big players in their pockets or keep them on their shelves. In an announcement to fans and collectors, Leaf Trading Cards and Poker Royal have teamed up to release a new line of trading cards featuring some of the biggest names in the world of Pro Poker.

This is the fifth collaboration between the two industry giants in the past 17 years. The most recent launch dates back to 2011. According to a press release from Leaf Trading Cards, the cards are said to feature a complete roster of poker players, including 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event winner Daniel Weinman.

The winner of the 2023 WSOP Main Event is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated entrants in the series. Weinman emerged victorious on a dramatic final hand and is now immortalized in the series, offering fans the chance to own his historic win.

Wayman is in the elite class

Weinman joins other poker celebrities in this exclusive deck, including Daniel Negreanu, who is synonymous with the game. Negreanu's illustrious career and countless successes at the poker table make him a must-have for any serious collector of poker memorabilia.

"The Poker Kid" himself Phil Hellmuth, the record holder with 17 WSOP bracelets, is another highlight of the series. Known for his polarizing personality and unparalleled poker skills, Hellmuth is sure to become a sought-after card among poker enthusiasts.

[We] already have Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, and Dan Weinman working on this project. When this deck is released, we'll have a ton of great cards covering poker players of all generations, including the newest players that people are excited about. ” said Josh Pankow, Vice President of Leaf Trading Cards.

While these three players are undoubtedly the main players, the series promises a diverse selection of poker personalities from different eras. There are reportedly 40 players to choose from, including a comprehensive look at the game's evolution over the years.

Collectors, fans, and poker enthusiasts expect these trading cards to be available sometime next year. There is no specific date yet, as the two companies are reportedly still compiling the list.

Leaf introduced its first deck of cards in 2006, and three years later, Chris Moneymaker won the WSOP Main Event and set in motion a series of events that would change the game of poker forever. After the first set, new playing cards were added in 2009 and 2010 and launched under the Razor Poker brand. Then in 2011, Leaf Trading launched its own branded card.

Dnegs in trouble

Negreanu was busy in this year's Poker Masters Championship Series, but failed to make it. He completed his fourth event on Tuesday, finishing sixth in the $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em tournament.

Negreanu advanced past 85 other players to reach the final table. However, when he tried to bluff his way closer to the finish line, everything fell apart.

The Canadian, who has won six WSOP bracelets and two World Poker Tour titles, holds a 10-9 record against Jonathan Little with J-3 . Little turned over a pair of nines, which Negreanu drew, then tried to force his opponent to concede.

Little wasn't fooled and followed Negreanu on every bet. Neither the turn nor the river worked for Negreanu, so he tried to steal the pot by over-betting. When Little called, Negreanu hit the railing and shot wide. He received a $54,600 consolation prize, his first in the series.

The game isn't over yet for Negreanu, who still has a chance at redemption if he wants to defend his title in the Super High Roller Bowl. He won the award last year, taking home $3.3 million, the second-largest ever. The event starts on Thursday and ends on Saturday.
