B-52s Prolong Vegas Tenure; Singer Fred Schneider Arranges Punk Rock Exhibition.

On Monday, it was revealed that The B-52s are extending their residency at the Venetian in Las Vegas. The band, famous for their '80s hit songs "Rock Lobster," "Private Idaho," and "Love Shack," will now play an additional five shows on April 12, 13, 17, 19, and 20, 2024. This comes after their 11-city "Final Tour Ever of Planet Earth" came to an end in January.

Singer Fred Schneider shared in an interview with outtraveler.com, "We decided we didn't really want to tour anymore. It's such a hassle traveling everywhere, so it's great to stay in one place for a while. People are responding positively, and we're just here to put on a rockin' show."

Double Booked

Alongside this announcement, Schneider revealed he'll be co-hosting a meet-and-greet and book signing for acclaimed music photographer and author Michael Grecco at the Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas on August 27. The signing is for his book, "Punk, Post Punk, New Wave: Onstage, Backstage, In Your Face, 1978-1991," published in 2020. Schneider, who penned the book's foreword, will sign copies along with the author.

The B-52s were established in October 1976 after a night of drinking at a Chinese restaurant in Athens, GA. Schneider, Kate Pierson, Keith Strickland, Cindy Wilson, and her brother Ricky Wilson came together to form their band, which took its name from southern slang for over-the-top hairstyles. Sadly, Ricky passed away due to an AIDS-related illness in 1985.

Tickets for the new Venetian shows, with prices starting at $49.50, will be available to the public on Friday, August 25th at 10:00 a.m. PT through Ticketmaster and the Venetian's official website. A presale for band members and Venetian Resort Grazie Rewards members as well as Live Nation/Ticketmaster patrons commences on August 22nd at 10:00 a.m., with codes to be sent out on August 23rd.

The book signing will take place between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on August 27th at the Punk Rock Museum, located at 1422 Western Avenue in Las Vegas. Those who buy a book from the museum's retail shop will gain free entry to the museum.

The Punk Rock Museum is the world's largest and most extensive destination celebrating the intriguing history of punk rock, its culture, and its quirkiness.
